Life Lately

Eating:
I've been on somewhat of a health kick lately. More than anything, I've just been trying to eat healthier in my day-to-day routine. I've always done a good job of eating healthy for breakfast but I got into a bad routine of ending the day however I wanted to.

It's a common misconception that if you're working out, you can get away with eating whatever you want. This most definitely is not the case! They don't cancel themselves out plus you aren't fueling your body in the right way for your next workout.

Enter a new healthy eating routine! I mixed up this avocado smoothie a couple Saturday's ago (thank you Kourtney Kardashian for the recipe *slightly embarrassed*). The recipe is as simple as this:

1 avocado

1 cup of almond milk
2 tbsp of local honey

I added a garnish of toasted coconut and it made for the perfect mid-day treat!

Drinking:
di Fratelli's: Pomegranate Martini
You all may remember my post from last week where I talked about my date night happy hour with E. I decided once wasn't enough to gush about this pomegranate martini. It's that good.

It should be noted that I'm not a big martini kind of gal. I always stick to my Chardonnay or champagne. I'll make an exception for this one (and then again). It's not too sweet or too strong. In my eyes, it's just right! Perfect for patio season :)

Wanting:

Fringe is the trend and I can't get enough.

These heels are currently at the top of my wish list (and rightfully so). They add such a fun element to simple looks. Classic white button down, distressed denim then these?! To me, that's the perfect look.

Smelling:
When I'm at home, you can almost always bet that I have a candle burning. It's one of the first things I do when I wake up or get home from a long day. In my little one bedroom apartment, I have three main rooms. In each one of these rooms, you'll find a candle.

I generally stock on my candles at TJ Maxx. Generally they are all under $10 (depending on the size) so this makes for a perfect price point. If I'm splurging, I'll always turn to the Rewined Rosé Candle. It's such a refreshing scent. I can't get enough!! I may just have to splurge right here and now… It is rosé season after all ;).

Loving:

One Teaspoon Distressed Denim Shorts
These shorts have appeared in several of my posts lately and there's one reason for it: they're simply amazing. You can find blog posts about them here and here. Both of these posts include a shopping guide for the shorts if you'd prefer a different wash!

While they are a bit short, they are just so comfortable I'll forgive them! Ha!

They're perfect for your next beach trip, lake trip or just plain road trip to somewhere fun!

Paducah:

Moment of silence for the newest cocktail hour spot in Paducah.

Say hello to the 1857 hotel! It's a new boutique hotel in Downtown Paducah that just happens to serve as a bar as well. It's a pretty mellow atmosphere. The space can double as a venue if you're in search of somewhere for a fun event or wedding!

I stopped in here after a makeup class with my friend Erin and we had such a fun evening! I ordered a glass of rosé and she grabbed a glass of Chardonnay. There was live music and we stayed for girl talk over a couple rounds of wine. It was a great time and I can't wait to go back!

Listening:
LEMONADE

Because who isn't obsessed with Beyonce?!
*sips lemonade*

Quoting:
You guys may remember a few posts back that I discussed my "winter rut" when it came to blogging. My content lacked there for a while as I braced the bitter cold and nursed more than the normal cups of coffee in a day. A dinner with a few other creative minds here in Paducah pulled me out of this rut and ever since, I've loved to reflect on this quote.

You did not wake up today to be mediocre.

Just let that resonate a little bit! All of us face struggles in our daily lives that tempt us to stray from the beaten path. You have so matter amazing things to offer this world! That proves true even on days when you aren't feeling 100%. In my eyes, it's all about positive self reflection.
