Life Lately

Wearing:

Shop My Look Here:

Over. The. Knee. Boots.

Holy smokes, you guys. I could wear these all day, every day.

Okay well maybe not all day every day but I wish I could?! If blisters were only a figment of our imagination, I'd totally put it in to play.

These boots are a must have for every winter wardrobe. They don't slip down, they're not too tight on my calves, none of it! They are truly the perfect pair of OTK boots. Snag them while you can! I had to search high and low for a place that still had them in stock… Don't let them slip away!

Paducah:

Christmastime

Eek! It's here, it's here! My favorite time of the year has finally arrived!

I know there are a lot of people out there who aren't too crazy about starting the Christmas celebration before Thanksgiving. I, however, am not one of those people. Bring it on, people! In my mind, Thanksgiving and Christmas are somewhat under the same umbrella. The holidays are such a festive time of the year! Bring on all that's merry and bright :).

Eating:

90% Fresh, 10% Treats

I've discussed healthy eating on my last few Life Lately posts. I still firmly believe that a healthy lifestyle is key for a happy lifestyle. That being said, you can't always withhold from treats. Sometimes you need to indulge in a little bit of chocolate! I'm the first one to admit that weakness.

Sweets are my "cheat food". The desserts pictured above are from the Derby Bar in Bowling Green. Oh. My. Gosh. You guys, do not miss out on these treats.

The dish to the left is a newfound favorite of mine from a local restaurant here in Paducah. Anyone who is from the area is familiar with the always loved Flamingo Row. Normally this is a "treat yourself" kind of restaurant for me but I've made a recent healthy discovery on their menu! Enter the Baja Bash. Bash we will over this amazing dish. Notice the toasted pumpkin seeds on top - oh yeah.

Loving:
My Mom + The Beach

Oh, my sweet little momma :)

She's the real hero. (I'm sure almost every girl out there probably has the same to say about their mom but mine is seriously the best!) If I grow up to be half of the sweet, strong and fierce woman that she is, I'll be proud of the woman I've become.

Phew! Okay enough with the sappy. The throwback picture from above was taken in Hawaii. This next week we get to spend some time down in Siesta Key together. I could not be more excited to spend time with her and the sea. Bring on the sun!

Listening:

The Chainsmokers mixed with the Alternative genre?! Sign me up!

Those are two of my favorite things!

Goodness gracious if this song doesn't bring a tear to your eye… Well, hopefully not! That's definitely not my intent but it is a truly beautiful song. Take a listen if you haven't already!
Quoting:
"If running is difficult, run more."

As the seasons are changing, so is my running technique. When the temperatures drop, it completely changes my breathing while I'm out on runs. It becomes much deeper breathing than it is in the summer. Not to mention the cold can literally knock the breath out of me there at first.

These changes make it much more tempting to stay tucked into my warm cozy bed in the mornings. Thus, this quote. When running is difficult, push yourself and run more. Do more than what you think you're capable of because I'm here to tell you that you are totally capable! Let's all be cheerleaders for each other on this. Exercise in the winter is no easy feat. Believe me! Pushing yourself a little further makes all the difference though.

I've found that as I do this in the mornings, it makes it easier to push myself a little more during the work day. I think that we all experience that mid-day slump but working from home makes it all that more tempting. If I've already pushed myself with my morning run, it's easier for me to say "no!" dance a little and turn on some BeyoncĂ©. Finish it out!

Watching:

Now I know that I'm not the only one itching at the bit to see this duo back on screen. Right?! Holy smokes how could you not be over the moon about these two returning to us!

Goodness gracious.

In preparation for this premier, I've been re-watching all of the old episodes. Can you blame me?? There's something about the atmosphere that these two create that makes me overflow with happiness. Now that my mom and I have gotten closer in my adulthood, it makes me appreciate the show that much more. Bring on the Gilmores! :)

(I'm pulling for a Logan return. Who's your all's pick for our darling little Rory?!)

Wanting:
Champagne Sleep Shirt

Oh how shocking, y'all! A champagne sleep shirt? For me?!

Okay I'm a sucker for sleepwear. I'll be the first to admit it. Everything from my flannel champagne pajamas to me endless collection of chemises, I love it all.

When my eyes met this little number, I absolutely fell in love. In true fashion blogger fashion, I started to imagine the full ensemble. Christmas morning? Obviously. Mimosa in hand? Obviously. Fuzzy slippers? Well, the Instagram wouldn't be complete without them, now would it?!

Drinking:
Coffee with Cinnamon
(Shop My Candle Here!)

It just occurred to me - I've never shared my coffee recipe with y'all!

Shame on me.

I say that, "coffee recipe", but let's be clear - I'm not all that fancy. My all time (grocery store) favorite coffee is a budget friendly choice. Maxwell House French Roast! You're not done with just that - now you add some extra flavor. Add a decent amount of cinnamon once you've poured your coffee grounds in. This adds a little extra flavor while also giving you the health benefits of cinnamon  (anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, cuts the risk of heart disease, etc.).

Smelling:
Candle

Holy smokes, you guys. Bath & Body Works does not mess around when it comes to candles.

I've heard every blogger under the sun gush about these and I finally broke down and purchased a few to give a try. Best. Purchase. I've. Made. Not only do they smell absolutely amazing but you get a lot of bang for your buck. They're not the type of candle where you have to burn them all day long to keep the fragrance swirling.

To show you how true this is, let me just share a story. This past Sunday I burned the candle all morning then blew it out when I left for Bowling Green that afternoon. I came home on Monday morning and my anxiety spiked the moment I walked in. Why? Because it smelled like the candle was undoubtable still burning. I darted in the front door and ran to the living room.

To my surprise, the candle was in fact not burning. Phew. But the scent stayed that strong for that long. How crazy is that?!
