Sunday Inspiration: Flat Lay

Happy Sunday, dolls!

It's crazy that another weekend has flown by.

I don't know about you all but Sunday is my lazy day most of the time. I'll lay around on the couch catching up on emails, scrolling Pinterest and (maybe) watch a little Kardashians and Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. Ugh I know! Don't judge me, they're definitely my "guilty pleasure" shows.

Speaking of Pinterest - I've been very in to flat lays as of lately. Anyone else love these?! As much as I love styled looks altogether, it can be fun to see a bit of a "break down". Agree? Surely I'm not the only one out there with a slight obsession! I've spent lots of time scrolling Pinterest for the perfect inspirations then got to work!

For those of you trying to attempt a flat lay of your own, I have put together a few tips. Don't get me wrong - I am no expert! If you all have some "tricks of the trade", feel free to share in the comments below! I'd love to get some feedback about my latest Pinterest obsession :)

1. Always use a flat white background for your shots. This helps make the items themselves pop much more than other surfaces you might use. For me, I use a $2 poster board that you can find almost anywhere.
2. Don't crowd the photos. Try to always use less than five pieces per shot. Otherwise your "main attraction" gets lost in the mix.
3. Make sure that you have a color theme. Combining all kinds of prints and colors is not for flat lays!

E will be spending the summer in Charleston and he left on Friday so it's been a tough few days! There really couldn't be a more fun town to go visit though, so I am thankful for that :)! My weekend was spent celebrating my best friend's 24th birthday here in Nashville. It's been a ton of fun but I'm ready to get nestled back into my routine at home this afternoon/evening.

What have you all been up to this weekend?? Anything fun? I'd love to hear!
Thank you for stopping by :)

  1. Love the flatlays! And don't worry, I love the Kardashians too, no need to feel guilty! Very jealous that you've been in Nashville, I'm from England but it's a city I've always wanted to visit x

  2. Love these tips! I don't know why I never thought of using poster board.. I've literally been dragging my white night table around. Oops haha!
